arcadehub.appAbout Solitaire
The beloved card game that has shipped with every Windows PC since 1990. Build four foundation piles in suit from Ace to King.
How to Play Solitaire
Move cards between tableau columns, building sequences in descending order with alternating colors. Flip cards from the stock pile when you're stuck. Move all cards to the four foundation piles (Ace through King, by suit) to win.
History of Solitaire
Klondike Solitaire — the version most people simply call "Solitaire" — became a global phenomenon when Microsoft included it in Windows 3.0 in 1990. It was added not as entertainment but to teach users how to drag and drop with a mouse, yet it became the most-played computer game in history. The card game itself dates back to 18th-century Northern Europe, where similar patience games were popular in French and German parlors. Estimates suggest Microsoft Solitaire has been played for over 9 billion hours by Windows users alone. Now you can play Solitaire free online in your browser — no download, no account, just the classic card game you know and love.
Tips & Tricks
- 1.Always move Aces and Twos to the foundation immediately — there is never a reason to keep them in the tableau.
- 2.Expose face-down cards in columns with the most hidden cards first — this unlocks the most potential moves.
- 3.Do not draw from the stock pile until you have exhausted every possible tableau move.
- 4.Empty tableau columns are extremely valuable — fill them strategically with Kings that have useful sequences.
- 5.Avoid moving cards to the foundation too early if they are needed to build tableau sequences — patience pays off.
